A slick back brings together the three things Mark Yousif leans toward most: slick backs themselves, skin fades and razor lineups. The top has to be cut so it lies flat when combed back, the sides are usually faded tight, and because nothing falls over the forehead, the edge around the hairline, ears and neck is on show all day.

The razor lineup matters more on an exposed hairline

On a slick back the lineup is part of the style, so we finish it with a razor rather than stopping at the trimmer. Around the ears and the nape, that clean edge is what makes a combed-back top look finished instead of merely long.

Timing a slick back for weddings, galas and grad

Book two to four days before the event, not the same morning. A fresh skin fade can look slightly raw right after the cut, and a few days of growth softens the blend while the razor edge still reads sharp in photos.

Because we are open until 9 PM seven days a week, a weekday evening after work usually lands neatly before a Saturday wedding.

How often to rebook, and what not to do in between

Come back every two to three weeks if the sides are skin-faded, or three to four if they are tapered longer. The top can go further between cuts; tell us at each visit whether you are keeping the length or want it tightened up.
