Neck Taper in Mississauga: Keep Longer Hair Neat at Heartland

Short answer: Yes, Markcutit does neck tapers at Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga, booked as Haircut Only on Booksy even though most of the cut is scissor work. Call or text (647) 221-9795 if you prefer. Come in with your hair worn the way you usually style it, tucked, flowing or tied, because the taper is set so the hair above falls over it.

Yes, a barber is the right place for longer hair

Plenty of people with longer hair assume they need a salon, but a neck taper is a barber's job: a clipper blend at the nape under a scissor cut. At Markcutit it falls under our scissor cuts service and is booked like any other haircut.

For what the taper is and which styles depend on it, read our neck taper guide. Here we cover the appointment, the barber and the schedule.

Which barber fits a neck taper

Both barbers cut neck tapers. Marcel Shabo leans toward tapers, texture and detailing, which suits a flow or a wavy medium-length cut where the scissor work on the lengths is as important as the nape.

Mark Yousif is credited with the Medium Length Taper in our portfolio, a good reference if you want length kept and the edges cleaned. If you wear a beard, he leans toward blending the sideburn into it, so book him with Haircut + Beard.

How the appointment works on longer hair

A neck taper appointment is mostly scissors, with a few minutes of clipper work at the end.

  1. We look at your hair dry and styled, the way you arrived, and ask how you wear it on a normal day.
  2. Length comes off with scissors: ends, weight and any layers, checked with the hair both down and pushed back.
  3. With the lengths set, we lift the hair at the back and taper the nape low enough to stay hidden under it.
  4. The neckline edge and the area around the ears are detailed so the outline looks deliberate.
  5. Hot towel, hair wash and head massage, all included, then a blow-dry into your usual shape.

A slow schedule, because length is the goal

Most neck taper clients come back every four to six weeks. The nape is the first thing to look untidy, often by week four, while the lengths can go longer without any trouble.

If you are growing out from a short cut, keep a four-week rhythm even though it feels frequent. Each visit cleans the neckline and evens the back, which is what makes the months of growing look planned. Our answer on how to grow out a fade walks through that process.

Clients who wear their hair tied back for work sometimes want the nape a little shorter so it stays neat under a hairnet or cap. Mention it at the start of the appointment and we will set the taper height with the tie in, then check it with the hair down.

Hockey hair, buns and a Mississauga winter

A flow that curls out from under a helmet and a bun tied back for the gym both depend on a clean nape. With the neck tapered, the hair below the helmet or under the tie looks finished instead of scruffy.

Winter scarves and jacket collars rub against the neckline all day, which makes an overgrown nape frizz and tangle faster. A neck taper keeps the hair off the collar, and a quick evening visit, we cut until 9 PM every day, keeps it that way without a weekend trip. For styles built on length, see our bro flow page.

Neck taper in Mississauga: common questions

Can I keep my man bun if I book a neck taper?

Yes. We cut the lengths so the bun still ties and keep the taper low; see our man bun undercut page if you want the sides shorter too.

Do I have to cut much length off?

No. Tell us how much you want to keep in the consultation; many neck taper appointments take only the ends.

Is a neck taper booked differently from a long hair trim?

No, both are Haircut Only. Write "neck taper, keep length" in the Booksy notes so the barber knows the plan.
