Show us the length in the mirror, not in words

"A trim" can mean a few millimetres or several centimetres depending on who says it. The clearest way to avoid a surprise is physical: stand at the mirror, hold a section between two fingers, and point to where you want the ends to finish.

Do this for the front, the sides and the back, since long hair rarely sits at one even length. If you have a photo of your hair at a length you liked, bring it. We will repeat the plan back to you in centimetres before the scissors come out.

What happens during a long hair trim

The appointment is calm and methodical, closer to a scissor cut on a short style than to a fade. You leave with the hot towel and head massage that come with every visit.

1. Consultation with the hair loose: length at each point, whether you want layers, and how you wear it day to day.
2. Hair wash, which makes long hair far easier to section and cut evenly.
3. Sectioning and trimming the ends with scissors, checking both sides against each other.
4. Optional texturizing to remove bulk if the hair sits heavy or wide.
5. Tidying around the ears and the neckline, with a neck taper if you ask for one.
6. A final look once the hair has dried enough to fall naturally, since wet length can hide uneven ends.

How often to book when you are keeping or growing length

If you are maintaining a length you like, book every two to three months for the ends and the shape. If you are still growing, the same interval works but ask us to take only the split ends, so you keep most of what grew.

The exception is the neckline and ears. If you wear your hair tied up for work, those areas show sooner, and a short visit every month or so keeps the edges neat without touching the length. Rebook on Booksy before you leave so you are not waiting until the ends look rough.

Looking after long hair through an Ontario winter

Winter is hard on long hair. Wool scarves and coat collars rub the ends at the back, dry indoor heating pulls moisture out, and static makes the hair fly away. A conditioner and a silk or cotton scarf rather than wool help.
