Why Marcel is the natural pick for a crop

Marcel Shabo is the barber we point crop requests toward, because texture on top, tapers and drop fades are exactly where his work leans. The choppy finish on a crop comes from patient scissor work on the top, and that is the part he enjoys.

Mark Yousif cuts crops as well, and if you want the fade under it taken high to skin, his skin-fade focus suits that. How to arrive for your first crop with us

Come in with your hair clean of product and dry, because we judge how the top separates before cutting into it. Heavy clay from the morning hides both the natural direction and any cowlick at the front.

The cut itself, the point cutting and the fade choices, are all explained in our textured crop guide. What we need from you on the day is simpler:

• A photo of a crop you like, ideally with the fringe visible from the front.
• The product you use now, or its name, so we can tell you whether it suits the new cut.
• How short you are willing to go at the sides, in plain words or guard numbers, and whether work has any rules on it.
• Any cut you have had recently that did not sit right, and why.

Split your visits: sides often, top less often

A textured crop grows out unevenly, so the smart booking pattern is a sides-focused visit every two to three weeks and a full reshape of the top every second visit. Both are booked as Haircut Only; you just tell the barber which one it is.

On a sides visit we refresh the fade and the lineup and only lightly tidy the fringe. On a full visit the top is point cut again from scratch. This keeps the fade sharp without cutting away length you are still growing into the shape.

Keeping the texture through a Mississauga year

The same crop needs slightly different care as the seasons change here. The cut stays the same; the product and routine shift a little.

In humid July and August, a heavy clay can turn greasy by mid-afternoon, so a lighter texture powder or sea salt spray usually holds better. In winter a toque flattens the top, and a crop recovers quickly: wet your fingers, rough the top up and push the fringe forward again. Our guide on avoiding hat hair has more on that. After a workout, rinse and restyle with a small amount of fresh product rather than adding more on top of the old.

Getting a crop around work and weekends

Because we are open until 9 PM every day, a crop is easy to fit in after work or on a Sunday evening before the week starts. If you commute on the 401 or take MiWay along Matheson Blvd, the studio sits on your way through Heartland rather than a detour.
