Why June in Peel squeezes the barber calendar

Every Peel school sets its own prom date, and most of them land somewhere between early and late June. Graduations then follow in the last week of the month. That means hundreds of students across Mississauga want a sharp cut inside the same few weeks, often on the same Thursday or Friday.

The practical answer is to book the moment your school announces the date. If your prom is on a Friday, the Tuesday and Wednesday evenings before it are usually easier to get than the day itself, and the cut looks better for having a couple of days to settle.

After-school slots are your easiest option

Because we stay open until 9 PM seven days a week, you do not have to miss class or wait for the weekend to get your prom cut. A slot after school or after a shift at a part-time job leaves the weekend free for picking up the suit and sorting out rides.

Sunday is also a real option, since our hours are the same that day. A Sunday afternoon cut suits a prom later that week.

Choosing Mark or Marcel for your prom cut

Both barbers do every cut on the menu, so pick based on the look you have in mind. Mark Yousif leans toward skin fades, slick backs and razor lineups, the crisp, high-contrast finish a lot of students want for prom photos. Marcel Shabo leans toward low and mid tapers, drop fades and texture on top, which suits a softer, more grown-up look.

What to bring to the prom appointment

Five minutes of preparation makes the consultation faster and the result closer to what you pictured.

• Your prom date, so we can tell you whether the timing is right.
• Two or three photos of the style you want, ideally from the side as well as the front.
• A photo of the suit or tux, because a high collar changes where the neckline should sit.
• The product you already own, so we can show you how to style the cut with it.
• Your plans for the beard or moustache, if you have one: keep, tidy or remove.

When prom and graduation are weeks apart

A lot of Peel students have prom early in June and graduation in the last week. One full cut will not look fresh for both, so plan two visits: a full cut before prom and a shorter touch-up before graduation.
