Twists with a Taper in Mississauga: We Cut Around Them, You Keep the Twists
Short answer: Yes, Markcutit cuts the taper, fade and lineup around twists at our studio in Heartland Town Centre, Mississauga. We never twist or retwist hair, so come in with your twists already done by you or your stylist. Book Haircut Only on Booksy; Marcel Shabo leans toward the low and mid tapers that suit longer twists, and Mark Yousif toward skin fades under short sponge twists.

What you can book with us, and what goes to your stylist
Our job ends where the twists begin. In the chair we handle the short hair around them and the outline of the whole look; anything that involves forming, redoing or maintaining the twists themselves belongs with you at home or with a natural hair stylist.
If you are not sure whether something falls on our side, ask when you book by text or Instagram DM and we will tell you straight.
| Job | Markcutit | You or your stylist |
|---|---|---|
| Taper or fade on the sides and back | Yes | No |
| Lineup at forehead, temples and nape | Yes | No |
| Evening out the top before you twist | Yes | Optional |
| Sponge or two-strand twisting | No | Yes |
| Retwisting grown-out roots | No | Yes |
Do the twists first, then sit in our chair
Book your taper for a day or two after the twists go in. Fresh twists show us exactly where the top ends and how the length hangs, so we can place the taper line to frame them instead of guessing from loose hair.
If your stylist appointment is at a salon elsewhere in Mississauga or Brampton, you can stack the two on one day: twists in the afternoon, then our chair in the evening, since we are open until 9 PM every day, including Sunday. Leave the edges free of heavy gel so the razor can work cleanly.
Choosing Marcel or Mark for your twists
Both barbers cut around twists, so pick by the sides you want. Marcel Shabo leans toward low and mid tapers and detailing, which suits two-strand twists that hang and need some weight kept at the sides. Mark Yousif leans toward skin fades and sharp razor lineups, the stronger contrast that short sponge twists are often paired with.
If you want the look explained before deciding, our twists with a fade guide covers the twist types and which fade heights pair with each.
The taper will be ready before your twists are
Twists can go a week or several between redos, but the short hair below them grows at the same pace as anyone else's. Around the two-to-three-week mark the taper softens and the neckline fuzzes, and that is the visit to book, even if the top still looks good.
Rebook before you leave the chair so you are not hunting for a slot later. When the twists are due for a redo around the same time, line the dates up so the whole look is fresh for the same week. We leave the twists alone during these in-between visits and work only below them.
Twists in cold weather and at the gym
A tight wool toque rubs against twists and the fresh taper at the nape, so a satin-lined hat is worth it once November arrives. Dry indoor air also means keeping up with moisture at home between visits.
Sweat from the gym or a summer soccer league sits at the edges first, and a crisp lineup blurs faster when the skin is always damp. Rinse the edges after training, and plan your taper visit a couple of days before any photo you care about, such as a UTM convocation in late October or a June graduation.
Twists with a taper in Mississauga: common questions
Can you retwist my hair if I bring my own products?
No. We do not twist or retwist hair under any circumstances; we cut the taper, fade and lineup around twists that are already in.
Can I come in with loose hair and get the top shaped for future twists?
Yes. We can even out the top so your twists start at a consistent length, then you or your stylist twist afterwards.
What if my twists are turning into locs?
The cut around them works the same way; see our loc taper page for how we handle edges once the twists have locked.
