Barber for Afro-textured hair in Mississauga: tapers, fades and lineups

Short answer: Yes. Markcutit cuts coily 4A to 4C hair at Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga: low tapers, skin fades under a Caesar or waves, afro shaping, tapers around twists and locs, and razor lineups that follow your natural hairline. The booking is Haircut Only on Booksy, or a call or text to (647) 221-9795 if you prefer. If your neck or beard line bumps easily, say so at the start and we will set the edges with the trimmer.

Coily hair is everyday work in our chairs

Tapers, fades and shape-ups on tightly coiled hair are part of the normal menu at Markcutit, not a special request. Our portfolio includes coily hair, such as a buzz cut with a taper and a beard lineup, next to curly and straight cuts.

How coils behave under clippers, and why length is judged dry, is covered in our guide to haircuts for coily hair. Here we stick to what you can book, what to say, and how to keep the shape between visits.

Styles we book for 4A to 4C hair

Every style in the table below is booked as Haircut Only, and each has its own page if you want the detail before you come in. The rebook column is a starting point; your growth rate decides the rest.

A lineup should trace your hairline, not redraw it

A good lineup on coily hair cleans only the stray growth in front of your natural edge. We do not shave the forehead or temples back to make a sharper corner, because each visit that takes a little more slowly moves the hairline, and on coily hair the edge can take a long time to fill back in.

Mark Yousif leans toward razor lineups and often does the edges on skin fade appointments, though both barbers line up every cut. If you have already had your hairline pushed back somewhere else, tell us and we will let it grow forward while keeping everything around it tidy. Our lineup page for Mississauga explains how the edge is set.

If razor bumps show up after your cuts

Razor bumps are common on coily hair because a tightly curled hair cut very close can curve back into the skin. Tell us before the cut if you get them, and we can change the finish.

The options are simple: trimmer instead of razor at the neck and beard line, a razor used only with the grain, or leaving the lowest part of a fade at a shadow rather than bare skin. The free hot towel softens the hair before any edge is cut. For home care, read how to prevent razor bumps, and see a doctor or dermatologist if bumps are painful, infected or leave dark marks. Our page on a barber for sensitive skin goes further into this.

Before you come in

Coily cuts are quicker to plan when we know where you are heading with the hair. These points help at the consultation.

  • Come with the hair in its usual state. We will pick it out in the chair if needed.
  • Tell us if you are in a wave wolf, growing for twists, or maintaining locs, so we protect the length on top.
  • Show us any spot along the edge that has thinned or been pushed back before.
  • Mention whether you want a curved or squared lineup at the temples, and a tapered or squared nape.

Keeping the shape between Heartland visits

Coily cuts look freshest for the first week or two, then the edges soften first. A skin fade usually wants attention every two to three weeks, while a low taper can stretch to three or four.

Ontario winters are hard on coily hair because indoor heating dries it out and toques rub the crown. A leave-in moisturiser, a satin-lined toque or a durag at night makes a visible difference to how the cut looks when you come back. We are open 9:30 AM to 9 PM seven days a week, so a Sunday evening edge-up before the work week is easy to book.

Barber for Afro-textured hair in Mississauga: common questions

Do both barbers cut 4C hair?

Yes. Mark and Marcel both cut coily hair and do every service. Pick Marcel if you lean toward a low taper and Mark if you want a razor-sharp skin fade and lineup.

Can you retwist my locs or do my twists?

No, retwists and twisting are not on our menu. We cut the taper and clean the edges around them, and the twisting is done at home or by your loctician.

Can I get a fade the week before an event?

Yes. Booking three to five days before gives any close edges time to settle while the cut still looks sharp. Same-day openings often show up on Booksy too.

Will a hot towel or head massage affect my waves?

No. Both come after the cut, and we brush your top back into its pattern when we style it. Tell us if you want to skip either one.
