Barber for Asian hair in Mississauga: two-block, texture and clean fades
Short answer: Yes. Markcutit cuts straight, thick, dark hair at Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga, including two-block cuts, heavy fringes over a drop fade, point-cut textured tops and fades blended so no shadow line shows against the skin. A two-block or fringe cut goes under Haircut Only on Booksy, and (647) 221-9795 takes calls and texts. Bring a photo of the shape you want and tell us whether your sides stick out or your top lies flat.

What people usually mean by Asian hair, and why we plan around the hair itself
When someone searches for a barber for Asian hair, they usually mean hair that is straight, dark, coarse per strand and dense, the kind that stands out from the sides and crown when it is short and lies heavy when it is long. Plenty of people of East and Southeast Asian heritage have exactly that hair, and plenty do not.
So we do not cut to a label. The consultation looks at how thick each strand is, how dense the hair is, where the crown whorl sits and which direction the sides grow, then we choose the cut. The broader guide to haircuts for straight hair explains the two common problems, hair that sticks up and hair that lies flat.
Fades that do not leave a shadow line
Dark, straight hair against lighter skin shows every step in a fade, so blending has to be finer than on lighter or curlier hair. We work through more guard lengths in the transition, use clipper-over-comb where the guards leave a ridge, and check the blend from several angles under the light before moving to the top.
The goal is a gradient with no grey band where the short hair meets the long. A low or mid drop fade is a common choice because it follows the curve of the head behind the ear, which keeps the heavy top from looking like it sits on a shelf.
Cuts we book on straight, thick, dark hair
These are the shapes that tend to work with this hair type rather than against it. Each is booked as Haircut Only.
- A two-block haircut: short sides with no blend and a longer top that drapes over them, which stops thick hair fanning out.
- A heavy fringe over a drop fade: a dense, slightly rounded fringe with the back faded low. Our portfolio shows one, credited to the studio.
- A textured crop: a short, point-cut top that separates flat hair into pieces.
- A curtain or middle-part cut: the top grown long enough to split at the centre, with the weight thinned underneath.
- A side part or comb-over fade, which uses straight hair's habit of lying in one direction.
Stopping the sides and crown from sticking up
Coarse straight hair sticks up when it is at an awkward in-between length, too long to stay flat and too short to be held down by its own weight. The fix is to remove that length at the source rather than fight it with product.
At the sides we either take it short enough to stay down or cut underneath so the top layer covers it. At the crown, where a whorl often pushes hair straight up, we leave more length so the hair has enough weight to lie over, and point-cut the ends so the surface looks soft instead of spiky.
Which barber to book for this style
Marcel Shabo leans toward drop fades, tapers and texture on top, which covers most two-block and fringe work. Mark Yousif leans toward skin fades and slick backs if you want your straight hair pushed back with a sharp, high-contrast side. Both barbers cut every style.
Pick your barber on Booksy first if the look matters most, or pick the time if you are flexible. We are open until 9 PM every day, including Sundays, which suits U of T Mississauga students and anyone working late.
Keeping it right between visits
Straight hair shows growth quickly, so the fade and fringe look best if you come back every three to four weeks. The fringe usually tells you first; once it touches your lashes, it is time.
At home, blow-dry the sides down and forward before they cool, then shape the top with a light matte clay. If your hair looks greasy by the afternoon, wash more often and use less product rather than more.
Barber for Asian hair in Mississauga: common questions
Can you cut a Korean-style two-block?
Yes. Bring a reference photo, since two-block cuts vary in how high the short section goes and how long the top is left. It is booked as Haircut Only.
Do you offer perms for more volume?
No. Perms and other chemical services are not on our menu. Point cutting and a blow-dry technique we show you at the end add lift without chemicals.
Can you just thin my hair out?
We can remove bulk, but on coarse straight hair heavy thinning near the root leaves short pieces that poke up. We usually cut underneath and point-cut the ends instead.
Can I bring a photo from social media?
Please do. Tell us which part you like, the fringe, the fade or the overall shape, and we will say honestly how close your hair can get.
