Ontario high schools start the Tuesday after Labour Day, which is September 7 in 2027, so aim for a cut in the week before. When the back to school rush hits
The rush starts in the middle of August and peaks in the final week before Labour Day. Families come back from summer trips, students return from jobs and camps, and everyone wants a cut in the same ten days.
In 2027, Labour Day is Monday, September 6 and classes start Tuesday, September 7. The Saturday and Sunday of that long weekend fill first. A weeknight in the week before is easier, and our hours run until 9 PM every day, so a slot after a summer shift still works.
High school and university run on different timelines
High school students need to look ready for the first day of class and, a few weeks later, school photos. University students often move into residence or a new apartment earlier, then have orientation events before lectures begin.

The easiest way to avoid scrambling for a slot before every event is to set a regular cycle in September. Book the next appointment before leaving the chair, and pick a day of the week that fits the school timetable, such as a weekday evening after practice.
