How often should you get a haircut? A barber’s schedule

Short answer: Short fades look best refreshed every two to three weeks, tapers every three to four weeks, longer scissor cuts every four to six weeks, and beard lineups every one to two weeks. The shorter the sides, the sooner regrowth shows.
A rebooking schedule by cut
Use this as a starting point, then adjust to how fast your hair grows and how sharp you like to look.
- Skin or high fade: every 2–3 weeks.
- Low or mid fade: every 3 weeks.
- Taper: every 3–4 weeks.
- Scissor cut or longer style: every 4–6 weeks.
- Beard lineup: every 1–2 weeks.
Why short cuts need more frequent visits
Hair grows at roughly the same rate everywhere, but a few millimetres of growth is very visible on a skin fade and almost invisible on longer hair. That is why the cleanest fades need the most frequent touch-ups.
Book your next appointment before you leave
